Hamline University

• Hamline University is a private college in a city setting in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

• Hamline was founded in 1854 as a liberal arts college.

• The University derives its name from Bishop Leonidas Lent Hamline.

• It is the first founded university of Minnesota and one of the pioneering co-educational institutions of the nation.

• Hamline believes in free flow of information and communication. It has a Hamline University Radio and three other newspapers, magazines and yearbooks namely, the Oracle, The Liner and the Fulcrum.

• Hamline University takes pride in calling itself the place where inter-college basketball started. The men’s basketball team has a total of 1154 victories in Division III of NCAA.

• The alumni of the university have reached the top ranks in sports and politics, amongst other spaces. Some of them are Van Tran, Patricia Anderson, William Fawcett, Max Winter and Lew Drill.

• There are more than 50 fields of study in the Hamline University.

• The institution has two libraries. The Hamline Law Library is dedicated only to the school of law while the Bush Memorial Library serves the rest of the schools.

• The university also maintains a great student faculty ratio, standing at 12:1.

• There are currently 185 full time and 297 part time staff members of the university.

• The institution also devotes about 47,000 hours to community service from its academic schedule.

• Hamline is one of the Phi Beta Kappa educational institutions.

• The institution has a multicultural environment and students from more than 40 countries study here each year.

• An interesting part of Hamline University is that it gives a four year graduation guarantee. If one is not able to get a Bachelor’s degree in 4 years, the university pays the difference in tuition fee.
